Background of the Trust
In the remote rural landscape of Bihar, lived a remarkable woman named Rama Kalyani. Though she had little to no formal education, she possessed extraordinary wisdom and a natural talent for helping others. Beyond caring for her own family, she extended her support to every household that came into her contact, offering guidance and assistance in matters of welfare and wellbeing.
True to her name, Kalyani embodied grace and virtue. She was known for her sharp intellect and compassionate nature. Her ability to counsel and guide the poor and the needy earned her deep respect across the village and the wider community. Kindness, goodwill, and selflessness were her defining traits.
Under her thoughtful mentorship, many illiterate families saw their children grow into accomplished citizens—scholars, officers, and social workers—who went on to serve the nation and society with distinction. Despite facing numerous hardships, she raised her five sons to become engineers, professors, and senior officials in coal fields. Today, two of her grandsons serve as senior officers in the Government of India, and her granddaughter-in-law is also employed in a government post.
So profound was her influence that her granddaughter-in-law, deeply inspired by Rama Kalyani’s humble yet impactful acts of public service, resolved to carry forward her legacy. She felt that by working in the spirit of Kalyani’s ideals and dedication to social welfare, they could repay a part of the debt owed to society. She believed that this would be the truest tribute to such a revered woman.
Thus, a trust was established in her memory, and it was officially registered on 11th December 2019 at the Registrar’s Office in Delhi. Rama Kalyani always credited society for her family’s success, saying that it was only through collective support that one could rise to higher positions. She considered it her duty to give back to society in return.
With this sentiment at its core, the trust named after her is now actively engaged in social service with great enthusiasm and energy. It is heartening to note that the initiative has received widespread encouragement and support from the public.
